At Smiley Dental Hampton in Dallas, Texas, our experienced dental team offers dentures for our patients who have lost teeth and wish to restore their confident, healthy smile. While dentures are custom-made oral appliances created to replace missing teeth, they do require proper care and maintenance. Dr. Lynh Pham and our team recommend these three tips when caring for your dentures.

  • The first thing you want to remember is that your dentures are fragile and if you accidentally drop them, they can break. You also don’t want them to dry out, as this can cause them to warp, so when you aren’t wearing them, keep them in warm or cold water (never hot) or a cleansing solution for dentures.
  • You will want to brush your dentures so that they don’t become stained, and to keep them clear from plaque and food debris. Before your put your dentures in for the day, use a soft-bristled toothbrush to brush your gums, tongue, cheeks and roof of your mouth. This will remove dental plaque and help prevent bad breath.
  • If you use adhesives with your dentures, be sure to follow the directions for their use exactly. Our dentist can recommend the best cleaners and adhesives to use, and of course, always use a product that carries the ADA Seal of Acceptance to ensure that they are both safe and effective.

When caring for your healthy smile, be sure to take as good care of your dentures as you do your own pearly whites. Are you looking for a more confident smile? Please give us a call today at 214.467.4800, and discover how we can help you bring back the healthy smile you deserve!
