At Smiley Dental in Dallas, Texas and surrounding areas, we know that you might be nervous about the process of some of our dental treatments. This is understandable. We would like to set you at ease.

Anytime that we do special dental work on your teeth, whether it be a filling, bridge, root canal or other treatments, we are extra cautious to make sure that you do not feel any pain. We do this in numerous ways depending upon the treatment needed.

The first strategy is to administer an anesthetic to the area of your mouth that will receive the treatment. We do this in preparation for such procedures as dental fillings, veneers, crowns, gum treatments and others.

During more extensive treatments, or to treat patients with dental anxiety, we offer three kinds of sedation. The first, oral sedation, involves taking oral medication before your appointment begins. You will be awake but feel more at ease. We also offer nitrous oxide, also called laughing gas, which is a mild sedative gas mixed with oxygen. IV sedation is administered intravenously, which enables Dr. to quickly provide relief and easily control sedation levels. Depending on the levels of sedation, you may be conscious or you may be able to simply sleep peacefully while we renovate your smile.

If you are prone to dental anxiety or have had negative dental experiences in the past, these sedatives to help you feel calmer and more at ease. When you call to make your appointment, just let us know about your specific concerns and desires and we will make the necessary preparations for the visit and tell you about any other important details suitable to your personal needs.
